An archaeological evaluation was undertaken for the proposed development of a sports complex (new all-weather five-a-side football pitch and new sports block) at St Columba’s College, Portaferry, Co. Down. Along with this, the entrance from Cloughey Road is to be moved and altered slightly. The evaluation involved the mechanical excavation of five trial-trenches in those areas that were to be disturbed during the development. All trenches were excavated to subsoil. There were no archaeological deposits uncovered within the development.
