An archaeological evaluation was carried out at 16 Sandeel Lane, Orlock, Groomsport, Co. Down, in response to the proposed redevelopment of the area and construction of properties. The application site is positioned close to a Mesolithic occupation site.
Four trenches measuring 13m by 2m were mechanically excavated to the surface of the natural subsoil. These trenches proved that a substantial amount of modern disturbance had occurred on site, probably in relation to the recent construction of No. 17 Sandeel Lane. Nothing of archaeological significance was encountered in any of the trenches.
