Pre-development test-trenching was carried out at the site of a proposed development at Lurgan Road, Magheralin, Co. Down, on 19–20 September 2006. All mechanical ground breaking was conducted by means of a mechanical excavator furnished with a toothless, flat-bottomed ditching bucket. Overlying peat formation deposits measured on average a depth of 2m and their removal revealed natural subsoil. No archaeological deposits were identified during test-trenching at the site.
