Testing was required in advance of A1 road works at junctions with Hillsborough, Dromore, Banbridge and Loughbrickland, Co. Down. Two trenches were placed at each of the four junction locations. No archaeological deposits were uncovered in any of the trenches opened at Dromore, Banbridge or Loughbrickland. A humic, peat-like deposit was uncovered at the Hillsborough junction. It is unclear if this deposit sealed an archaeological horizon and this will require further investigation. No artefacts were recovered during testing at any of the four locations.
