An archaeological evaluation was carried out at 2 Kearney Road, Knockinelder, Portaferry, Co. Down, in response to a planning application for the construction of a replacement dwelling. Two cist burials (DOW032–024 and DOW032–035) are located in the immediate vicinity of the proposed development.
Two test-trenches were mechanically excavated to the surface of the natural subsoil. The trenches measured 10m by 2m and proved that a degree of modern disturbance had occurred on site. Nothing of archaeological significance was encountered in either of the trenches.
