The proposed development site was located within the limits of the former Old Homestead Inn. The removal of vegetation along the south boundary of the site revealed that the construction of the Old Homestead Inn had resulted in substantial truncation of a drumlin. The extent of this truncation had resulted in the current ground level being some 6–8m lower than the drumlin top. As such, any archaeological deposits within this area would have been removed at the time of the ground reduction. No features of archaeological interest were identified during the course of the monitoring.

Editor’s note: Although this licence was issued during 2004, the report on the work was not received in time for inclusion in the bulletin of that year.
