An archaeological investigation was undertaken at 170 Newtownbreda Road, Castlereagh, in July 2006 at the site of a proposed retail development. Twenty trenches were excavated across a 300m by 150m area of the site where the former ground level was considered to have survived. The site had been highly disturbed and was characterised by modern overburden, up to 1.5m deep, overlying subsoil. No archaeological deposits were found.
