Initial archaeological evaluation of the central area of this site has revealed a curvilinear ditch, 1.5m wide, 0.7m deep. Initial thoughts are that this ditch is associated with a known rath, DOW002–001, of which there had been no visible remains. Only the southern area of the rath is thought to survive, the remainder continuing under a modern shopping centre. Further archaeological excavation will confirm this.
