Four trenches were excavated across the confines of a proposed development site. The site lay on the north side of Belfast Road, Bangor, immediately west of the Boyne Bridge, and had been in use as a petrol-filling station. The stratigraphic sequence of the site was characterised by modern overburden, up to 1.8m deep, immediately overlying undisturbed subsoil. Modern overburden and service pipes were uncovered, but no archaeological deposits were found.
