This site was excavated as part of the recently completed BGE (Northern Ireland) gas pipeline. Trial-trenching had revealed a linear ditch in the vicinity of a ploughed-down rath. This proved, on excavation, to be a post-medieval land drain, 1.12m wide by 0.24m deep, cut into the mixed glacial till subsoil and filled with loose blue/grey clay and medium-sized stones.
