A programme of assessment and testing was carried out at Navenny, Ballybofey Co. Donegal. The assessment was designed to fulfil planning conditions attached to two planning applications. The assessment area was divided into four areas, Fields A–D.
Testing recorded the presence of significant archaeological deposits in the north-eastern corner of Field B. These deposits consisted of the remains of a corn-drying kiln and a burnt pit. Excavation of foundation trenches for three proposed houses in this area will have the potential to directly and negatively impact on these features and any other as yet undiscovered deposits in the area.
