Testing was carried out as a condition of planning prior to the development of a new access road and housing development at Cockhill, Buncrana, Co. Donegal.
Four test-trenches were excavated. The only evidence of human activity on the site aboveground was drystone walls surrounding and separating the fields. The testing revealed that the only below-ground activity was the presence of the remnants of fence posts and a drain that appears to have been an attempt to drain/improve the land in the recent past. No finds or features of archaeological significance were recorded.
