Testing was undertaken in advance of a new development of a livestock auction building. Thirteen trenches were excavated across the site. The archaeology of the site was characterised by topsoil overlying natural on the crest and slope of the hill and peat deposits, up to 1.45m thick, in the low-lying field near the existing watercourse. A former land boundary, backfilled in the 19th/20th centuries, was recorded along the base of the hill. Nothing of archaeological significance was found.
