Small-scale excavations and a survey took place in the vicinity of Prehen House in January 2006. The house is an early 18th-century construction located near Derry city. The investigations were primarily concerned with locating possible evidence for 17th-century activity in the townland. Two small trenches measuring 2m by 1m were excavated. The first was located against an enclosing yard wall at the rear of the house, while a second was positioned against the corner of a large building located behind the main house. The first trench uncovered structural evidence for a drainage system constructed at the same time as the house, while the second trench uncovered a cobbled walkway but no artefactual material. No evidence of 17th-century activity was uncovered.
