Four 20m by 2m trenches were excavated across the proposed route of the A2 dualling road. The stratigraphic sequence was characterised by topsoil, up to 0.4m deep, immediately overlying undisturbed subsoil. A modern pipe trench and field drains were uncovered, but no archaeological deposits were found.
