Glasgow University Archaeological Research Division (GUARD) was commissioned by the Cusp Group to conduct an assessment of an area proposed for development immediately to the east of the Crescent Link, Derry. This was followed by a phase of monitoring during topsoil-stripping of the site. A small section of a well-constructed stone-lined drain was uncovered and excavated. This was located near to a small building which was noted on the first-edition OS map and of which no trace was found. The areas stripped of topsoil also revealed numerous furrows and field drains of varying construction. The work was undertaken during May and June 2006.
