Monitoring of topsoil-stripping was undertaken in advance of the construction of the proposed Skeoge link road, Derry, between 14 August and 29 September 2006.
Two subsoil-cut pits (F102 and F103) were identified. Excavation of the deposits revealed evidence of burning, although no artefactual dating evidence was recovered during excavation. Radiocarbon dating analysis of the charcoal within the basal deposit of F103 has provided a probable date range for this feature of between 2100 and 2040 bc, placing the feature within the Early Bronze Age period.
