Monitoring of this site of proposed development revealed features of possible archaeological significance, which were subsequently investigated. A total of 313 contexts were recorded on the site. There were a number of isolated features, which could be securely dated as post-medieval. These included a red-brick well and a nearby 19th-century house foundation. The remaining excavation area included features of possible prehistoric date. Among these were three pits with evidence of burning and a more elaborate hearth with stone surround. There were also two substantial charcoal-rich pits, one of which was enveloped by the remains of a possible lightweight structure. A number of clusters of pits, some intercutting, were observed elsewhere on site, all of possible prehistoric date. One isolated scatter of possible worked flints was also found.
