Eight test-trenches were excavated at the greenfield site of a proposed housing development. The site of Saint Stephen’s well (CO053–046), now a featureless hollow, is located at the north edge of the site. A number of field drains and possible old field boundaries were recorded in the field. Although some anomalies were identified during geophysical survey, no archaeological finds or features were noted during testing. The well site will be an open area in the proposed development and it will be marked by a plaque.
