Fifteen test-trenches were opened on this proposed development site at Shanbally, Carrigaline, using a mechanical excavator. The site is in the environs of a circular enclosure. Topsoil was removed to a depth of 0.3–0.6m in the trenches. This overlay a mid-orangey-brown sandy silty clay subsoil with occasional small stones. No archaeological finds or levels were noted in the trenches.
