An impact assessment involving a test excavation was carried out at Knockraheen, Carriganimmy, prior to planning approval for the construction of a single dwelling house within the constraint zone of a standing stone (CO059–021) and two fulachta fiadh (CO059–184, 185). The Knockraheen megalithic complex (CO050–023), including a radial stone circle, a standing stone and a stone alignment, is located less than a mile to the south-east of the proposed development. The standing stone is set into a field boundary less than 30m to the south-west of the house. Four test-trenches were opened in those areas of the site that were subjected to maximum ground disturbance and nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered.
