Five test-trenches were excavated at the site of a proposed housing development in a field to the north-east of Tower village. Stratigraphy in the trenches consisted of a mid-brown stony soil, 0.4–0.5m deep, over orange/brown stony, sandy subsoil; limestone bedrock was visible in places. The ‘Hydro’ (CO062–235) directly to the north will not be affected by the proposed development. No archaeological finds or features were noted during testing.
