Monitoring of topsoil removal during construction of a housing estate was carried out in a greenfield site in Gurteenroe townland, located in the western outskirts of Macroom town. The stratigraphy consisted of the topsoil layer overlying the natural subsoil and areas of bedrock outcrop. There have been no archaeological features or finds recorded to date and monitoring will continue at this development site in 2007.
