Six test-trenches were excavated at the site of a proposed housing development to the south-west of Boherboy village. Six deposits of burnt stone associated with a levelled fulacht fiadh were recorded in an area 20m by 15m in the northern corner of the field. A buffer zone was created in this area. Modern drains in the field had been filled with burnt stone from the monument. The remains of a modern bonfire, and a circular pit (0.5m in diameter by 0.15m in depth) filled with burnt stone were also recorded.
