A test excavation was undertaken prior to planning approval for the construction of an extension to a dwelling house at Dunnycove, Ardfield. The proposed development is located in the zone of archaeological potential around two churches (CO144–032(02, 03)) and a graveyard (CO144–032(01)). Test-trenches placed across the footprint of the proposed extension and at the location of a treatment unit were excavated to a level below the natural boulder clay and no features of archaeological significance were noted in either of the areas investigated.
