Two test-trenches were machine excavated a site at Belvelly, Great Island, Cobh, which is near a martello tower. The stratigraphy within these trenches was of disturbed ground consisting of mid-brown clay up to 1m in depth. No archaeological finds or levels were noted in the trenches.
