Pre-development testing was carried out on the site of a proposed tourist hostel and housing development at Craggagh, Co. Clare, on 20–21 June 2006. The site is located adjacent to the medieval church of Killonaghan. Testing comprised the excavation of nineteen trenches on the development footprint. The site had been the subject of extensive land-reclamation works in recent times and consequently the topsoil cover was quite thin, averaging just 0.2m in thickness. It overlay orange/brown clayey sand with frequent small to medium angular stones and occasional large boulders. No archaeological material was uncovered.
