Test excavation was conducted at this site in advance of a proposed housing development. The site lies on the eastern slopes of a prominent drumlin, with extensive views of the landscape from its north-west through to the south-east. A ringfort commands the summit of the drumlin and is located on the western side of the site. A buffer zone measuring 30m separates the monument from the proposed development.
Twenty test-trenches were excavated, to the natural, using a mechanical excavator fitted with a 2m-wide grading bucket. A number of furrows and stone field drains were uncovered in the trenches on the summit of the drumlin, indicating past agricultural practices. However, nothing of archaeological significance was found within the limits of the test excavation.
