Monitoring was conducted during the groundworks for the construction of 32 wind turbines and associated works in the townlands of Bindoo, Rathrussan, Cornasaus, Drumnatread, Labbinlee, Leaghin, Greaghnacross, Rinbane, Cornabeagh, Drumeltan, Cornanurney, Drummartin and Killyvahin. The groundworks were ongoing from March to October. The project involved: stripping an area for a hardstanding and turbine site for each individual wind turbine, mainly measuring 30m by 25m; stripping an area each for two meteorological masts associated with the development, measuring 20m by 15m; installing 11km of access roads.
Four monuments were close to areas being developed for the wind farm, which measures c. 16.8km2: CV022–016, listed as a souterrain, possible site; CV022–030, listed as a rath; CV022–003, listed as a rath; CV022–006, listed as a barrow, complex site.
The groundworks were monitored. With the exception of Drumeltan (see No. 223, Excavations 2006), the monitoring disclosed no material of an archaeological nature.
