The site was excavated as part of the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford scheme: Kilcullen to Powerstown. A small area of modern agricultural burning was excavated, consisting of a large sub-oval pit with burnt limestone and charcoal throughout, used to produce lime for fertiliser. This pit was excavated and operated by the local landowner and his predecessor, and was one of several in the area. It was of no archaeological significance.
