The site was excavated as part of the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford scheme: Kilcullen to Powerstown. A bullaun stone (CW007–017(02)) was identified 1km south-west of the site.
Excavation revealed the remains of a burnt spread that was 8m by 6.5m and 0.3m deep. It was not very substantial and possibly had been subject to flooding, resulting in a high silt content. Beyond the burnt spread, two troughs with evidence for timber lining were excavated. The first was subrectangular in plan, measuring 3m by 2m and 0.6m deep. The second was oval in plan, measuring 2.95m by 1.57m, and was 1.02m deep.
Fifteen pits were distributed around the troughs and their respective fills suggest they are related to fulachta fiadh activity that occurred on site. Two linear features were identified, possibly representing post-medieval field division.
