An archaeological evaluation was required in advance of the construction of a private dwelling. The proposed development site is located 80–100m south of a rath and possible souterrain, Drumboy Fort (ARM030–017). Approximately 30m to the west of the site is a mound (ARM030–033), which is thought to be the remains of a site known as ‘The Moat’ reported by the late T.G.F. Paterson, curator of Armagh County Museum in the early 20th century. Five test-trenches were excavated by machine (four measuring c. 35m by 2m and the fifth c. 30m by 2m). No finds, features or deposits of archaeological significance were uncovered in any of the trenches.
