An archaeological evaluation was carried out at a site 160m to the north-west of 129 Ennislare Road, Balleer, Co. Armagh, in response to a planning application for a dwelling. A partially destroyed rath (ARM016–034) is situated c. 40m from the application site, within the same field. The evaluation consisted of five test-trenches within the area of the proposed development. There were no archaeological features within the test-trenches. A small number of sherds of 19th-century pottery were recovered, presumably derived from manuring using midden material.
