Monitoring of topsoil-stripping was carried out during the course of groundworks for Junction 7 of the M2 motorway improvements at Crosskennan, Co. Antrim, having been commissioned by HMC JV (Highways Management Construction).
Monitoring of the southbound slip road onto the motorway was carried out on 5–9 May 2006, while monitoring of the northbound slip road was carried out on 9–17 May 2006. Monitoring of both slip roads revealed the subsoil to consist of an orange mottled grey boulder clay directly underlying topsoil.
No archaeological deposits were identified during the course of the monitoring works.
