Test excavation took place in December 2005 at the site of a proposed single dwelling in Knockadreet, Co. Wicklow. The proposed development was located within the constraint zone of two sites of enclosures. Both sites were recorded in the first-edition OS (1838). There are no extant remains of 18:17, but a gently curving field boundary adjacent to the site of 18:16 could incorporate the remains of a bank. The test-trenches were located within the footprint of the proposed structure and along the line of the proposed effluent treatment system. Six test-trenches were excavated in total with a 1m bucket. Nothing of archaeological significance was found during the test excavation.
