The site, in the townland of Bollarney North, is just to the north of Wicklow town. It is bounded on the north and east by Broad Lough, a large body of water separated from the Irish Sea by a salt marsh. Ten test-trenches were mechanically opened at the site. No archaeological features or deposits were identified in any of these trenches.
