Monitoring was undertaken along two sections of the Rosslare Harbour interim drainage scheme. Monitoring works were concentrated in two areas close to two monuments: Ballygerry ‘castle of’ and Kilraine ruined church and graveyard.
Most of the scheme extended along the public road, with a total length of 615m monitored, all along public roads. No archaeological features or deposits were uncovered. The upper levels of trenching were totally dominated by road surfaces and composition material, which overlaid natural deposits. In no instance did any intact topsoil layers survive, having been previously removed to facilitate road construction.
