The site was on low-lying flat ground in the flood-plain of a stream. It consisted of the remains of a burnt mound, with a spread of heat-shattered stone. Two pits or troughs were found under this spread: an irregular but approximately oval pit 2.6m by 1.36m, 0.72m deep, with a post-hole at either end and a group of 38 stake-holes on the surface beside the northern end, approximately forming three sides of a rectangle. This trough was filled with burnt-mound material and a smaller trough had been recut into the fill. This was rectangular, 1.36m by 0.95m, 0.17m deep. The second trough, nearby, was a shallow rectangle, 1.46m by 0.66m, 0.3m deep, with no post- or stake-holes associated. A third trough occurred to the east, beyond the existing limit of the burnt spread, but filled with the same material. This was another shallow rectangle, 1.5m by 1.2m and 0.26m deep. This had small groups of stake-holes at each corner. Finds consisted mostly of struck flints, including some possible scrapers, and a number of sherds of post-medieval pottery.
