The initial identification of archaeological features on the site was confirmed by testing under licence A003/005 as part of the N11 Gorey–Arklow scheme. Excavation commenced in June for a period of three weeks. The site was located to the east of the N11 between Inch and Arklow, c. 6.8km to the south-south-west of Arklow town on a slightly raised area.
Eleven clay deposits with charcoal inclusions were investigated as potential features. The largest measured 3.5m long, 1.6m wide and 0.35m deep. Another large deposit measured 2.2m long, 1.03m wide and 0.14m deep. There was no recognisable pattern to these deposits. They were spread across the entire area of the site.
A linear feature that was initially identified in testing as a slot-trench for a structure was found, on excavation, to be a modern drain.
Finds consisted of worked flint, chert and post-medieval pottery, all from a non-stratified context. The site was non-archaeological.
