Further testing was undertaken at the site in response to recommendations from the DoEHLG. Two test-trenches were excavated and the fosse of Ferns Castle was uncovered in both. This feature was backfilled in the recent past and the upper 1.5m is subsequently filled by modern material. The design of the development was amended to take the findings into account.
