This site was one of five sites excavated in Toar Bog, Co. Westmeath, as part of the 2005 Bord na Mona archaeological mitigation programme. The site was identified as a tertiary togher during the 2000 Peatland Survey. It was identified in the drain face as consisting of two dense and compact layers of material oriented in a north-north-east/south-south-west direction (WM-RGT022). The upper surface was a hurdle panel composed of more than fifty pieces of brushwood, three roundwoods, one vertical peg and some beds of twigs. The site measured 2m by 4.75m and the wood species were identified as hazel, ash and rowan/hawthorn. Several elements had tool-marked ends cut to chisel points that were flat in character.
