The excavation at Site 3, Hallsfarm, was carried out in advance of the N6 Kilbeggan–Kinnegad road scheme. The site consisted of a heavily disturbed burnt pit or kiln. The feature was 1.55m in length, 0.91m wide and had a maximum depth of 0.36m. The fill, which was heavily disturbed by root action, was orange/red silty clay with occasional pieces of charcoal. The natural into which the kiln or oven was cut had been burnt in situ.
