The excavations at Site 6, Cornaher, were carried out in advance of the N6 Kilbeggan–Kinnegad road scheme. The site consisted of a large burnt pit with an associated burnt-stone spread. The pit was subcircular in plan and measured 2.4m by 1.6m and was 0.35m deep. It contained three main fills and two small lenses which divided them. The upper fill was dark-grey/brown sandy silt with occasional charcoal flecks throughout. The middle fill was mid-brown/grey sandy silt. The basal fill was mid-brown sandy clay which had occasional charcoal flecking throughout. The burnt spread was located to the immediate west of the pit. It consisted of one main layer, which was dark-brown/black silty clay with charcoal and burnt stone. The spread measured 0.9m by 0.5m had a maximum depth of 0.11m. Both of the features had suffered limited damage from modern agricultural activity. No other archaeological features were identified.
