The excavation of the remains of thirteen archaeological sites that had been previously identified during centre-line testing along the proposed route of the N6 Kinnegad–Kilbeggan motorway in the townlands of Ballykilmore (one site) and Rathgarrett (twelve sites), Co. Westmeath (Excavations 2004, No. 1787, 04E0879), took place during the period l7 December 2004 to 12 January 2005. At the site of Ballykilmore 8 the remains of a number of pottery sherds (yet to be dated) were uncovered lying on the natural subsoil.
