Three test-trenches were excavated in the rear garden of a cornmill located on the west side of Convent Street, Tallow. It is proposed to demolish the mill buildings and develop the site.
The foundations of a north–south sandstone wall defined the western limit of a cobbled surface exposed at the east end of Trench 1 excavated to the west of the cornmill building. This is likely to be a yard surface associated with the mill. The cobbles were set in a dark-brown sandy clay which that a yellowish-grey sandy boulder clay.
There was nothing of archaeological significance noted in the remaining trenches excavated in the centre and at the west side of the site.
