Test-trenching of a 50m length of the Cunnigar sand spit was carried out in advance of an extension to existing coastal protection works that were put in place in 2002 following test-trenching by Rory Sherlock (Excavations 2002, No. 1787). No features or finds of archaeological significance were revealed.
