A second short season of excavation was carried out on the site of the vertical watermill at Killoteran 9 on the N25 Waterford bypass in September–October 2005. The site extents had been exposed by Donald Murphy the previous year where the timber posts, planks and beams had been recorded prior to lifting (Excavations 2004, No. 1681, 03E0406). However, the site flooded in late 2004 before this work could be completed.
During 2005 the site was recleaned and photographed and a number of timbers from the tailrace were lifted and placed in the water tank for conservation. However, further flooding prevented completion of work on the site. Work is now scheduled for completion in spring 2006.
