Testing works were undertaken as part of further information for planning permission to construct some farm outbuildings at St Johnstown, Fethard. The farm complex was set within the confines of a deer park. One test-trench was opened on the site. Both a landscape assessment and testing proved negative regarding evidence of archaeological features and/or deposits associated with the deer park. No evidence was found regarding an enclosing wall and it is obvious the interior of the park had been extensively farmed over the last centuries. This was particularly apparent in the presence of internal hedgerow boundaries.
