Monitoring was undertaken at a development of 167 houses and ancillary structures in the townlands of Poolakerry, Killsheelan and Cloghcarrigeen, near Kilsheelan village. Three areas of archaeology were recorded. Area 1 measured 10m north–south by 10m. Fifteen pits and a single post-hole were recorded. The pits were oval or circular in plan and varied in size from 0.4m in diameter by 0.22m in depth to 0.93m by 0.72m by 0.2m in depth. Sherds of Western Neolithic pottery, fragments of charcoal and heat-shattered stone were included in some of the fills. Seven lithics were recovered from Area 1. It is likely that the pits represent an area of outdoor activity. A single pit was recorded in Area 2, c. 340m from the pits in Area 1. A large single pit was recorded in Area 3. It is probably modern in origin.
