Monitoring of sewerage pipe trench excavation associated with the renovation of a dwelling was undertaken on 15 March 2005. The pipe trench measured 45m in overall length, 1m in average width and up to 1.8m in depth at its south-western end, which lessened to 0.4m at its north-eastern end. Its stratigraphy consisted of 0.15–0.25m of topsoil, beneath which the remainder comprised naturally occurring subsoil of pale-yellow to grey boulder clay with small to medium limestone inclusions. The topsoil achieved greater depths of up to 0.4m at the south-western end, where the ground had previously been disturbed by the installation of an ESB post. Nothing of archaeological significance was encountered.
